Business Plan Competition 2020

JUMPSTART YOUR BUSINESS!

Enter The 2020 SME TOOLKIT BUSINESS/PARTNERS Business Plan Competition For Aspiring Entrepreneurs.

Having successfully jump-started hundreds of young entrepreneurs over the past 10 years, the SME Toolkit BUSINESS/PARTNERS Business Plan Competition for Aspiring Entrepreneurs provides the opportunity to try your hand at entrepreneurship.

Unlike previous years when the competition was only open to those between the ages of 18 – 35 years, this year entrepreneurs of all ages are encouraged to apply. In being responsive to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 competition process will be facilitated via the online platforms Facebook and Microsoft Teams, meaning that access to the internet is essential.

Participants will be provided with training material on how to develop a business plan, marketing and a cash flow forecast, and will be able to participate in online workshops and group discussions before submitting business plans.

Business plans will be assessed and regional winners will be announced. From this pool of regional winners an overall national winner will be announced.

Prizes include vouchers to receive mentorship assistance from leading business experts for regional winners, and for the winner, a further mentorship voucher, as well as a cash prize of R30 000. Please note that in relation to the mentorship only BUSINESS/PARTNERS approved mentors will be considered.

Revised Framework as a result of relaxation of Lockdown to Level 1

However, the relaxation of the lockdown to a Level 1, as announced by the President on 16 September 2020, allows now for workshops to proceed with the necessary caution and safety protocols.

Subsequently the framework is revised to accommodate workshops and extend the time-frame of the Business Plan Competition accordingly. All participants will be invited to attend free workshops in selected areas.
